The Holy Spirit of God

continued …

Why does the Holy Ghost have so many different names?

These names reflect His character/attributes, such as: The Holy Spirit is that holy Spirit of promise.

Ephesians 1:13,14   13  In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation:  in whom also after ye believed, ye were sealed with                                                                             that holy Spirit of promise.   14 Which is the  earnest  of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

My note:  “the purchased possession”  is  the body

My note:  Having the Holy Spirit dwelling within us   is the promise or the guarantee,  that our body shall be redeemed and glorified;  continually affirming with praise,  HIS glory.                                     God receives continual praise for redeeming and saving our body.  2Corinthians 1:21,22

My note:  The redemption of our body is very important to a Christian!  and also, to those who are lost and walking according to this world;  there grows a weariness, despair, etc., upon                      all men.  Sin does have a stronghold!  But we who are saved, have a hope which is stronger than the present weariness of this world!

Earnest, n.  2. First fruits;  that which is in advance, and gives promise of something to come.    Thus, the earnest of the Spirit is given to saints, as a pledge or assurance of their future enjoyment of God’s presence and favor.  2Corinthians 1:22 ; 5:5

My note:  Earnest is the guarantee of being with the Lord, for ever!

My note:  Along with our body, HE also saves our soul and spirit from the eternal torments to come; being cast into the lake of fire and brimstone.  Revelation 21:7,8

More Scripture is quoted declaring this truth.

Psalm 46:10                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              Be still, and know that I am God:                                                                                                                                                 I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

… , How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Every moment in time that Jesus does not return, is an opportunity for someone to repent and to receive HIM, as one’s own personal Lord & Saviour;

becoming a child of God, now and shall be with HIM, for ever!

2Timothy 3:16,17

16All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

2Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish,                                                                                                                                                                      but that all should come to repentance.
